Junie's is what happened when June Calloway left the tasting-menu world and came home. Her folks ran a diner off Route 9 for thirty years; she grew up on a milk crate by the register, then spent twelve years in kitchens where the tweezers outnumbered the spoons. This room is the truce: fried chicken and butterscotch pudding, cooked with everything she learned and none of the fuss.
The pie case by the door — salvaged from the old diner — is stocked every morning and not restocked. Vegetables ride in on the Tuesday and Friday farm trucks; the butcher paper by the kitchen window says what showed up. If a dish has a story, tap it — I know most of them.
